Max Eastley

This was the second of a series of amplified Aeolian devices, the first  being installed on the roof of Raven Row Gallery in London. Through weather forecasts I could fairly accurately predict in both cases how the installation would be sounding.

On the day of the event, a wind of 7 kilometres per hour was predicted (Force 2 on the Beaufort scale, a light breeze). The result of these factors is, I hope, evident in the recordings.

The question of whether this phenomena is Music or not can only be answered by an individual listener, but the following question arises: can there be music without a performer?  This question opens up more thoughts and questions, one of which could be: is birdsong music?
